French toast with maple syrup

I followed BBC Good Food's recipe. It takes 5 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to cook.

The ingredients I used are:

  • 1 large egg

  • 40ml milk

  • 20ml double cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 2 slices of brioche

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Fresh berries

  • Maple syrup

I started by breaking the egg in a bowl. I then added the milk, double cream, vanilla extract and cinnamon, and whisked everything. I placed the brioche slices in a shallow plate on top of each other and poured the mixture all over. I let the slices soak for about 2 minutes on each side.

I added ½ tbsp vegetable oil and ½ tbsp butter to a frying pan on medium heat. I gently placed one slice at a time in the frying pan and let it cook until each side was golden and crisp. I repeated the steps with the other slice.

I then halved each slice and drizzled maple syrup all over. Finally, I served the French toast with fresh berries. Bon appétit!
